Halligan in Car Operations

A variation of the Halligan bar for automotive use is the “Highway Halligan” which replaces the fork with a metal cutter, allowing it to be used like a giant can opener. The Cutter end works well cutting out windshields on cars – punch some starter holes with the spike, and then cut across with the cutter.

The Halligan can be used as a purchase point for a hydraulic ram when performing a dash roll. The spike is simply driven through the base of the door jamb. (below)

In a car fire, a Haligan can be used for breaching a hood. By driving the spike through the hood of a car, it can be rolled back enough to get a hose in. this technique could also be used to reach a battery for disconnection.
