The Turandor arrived yesterday afternoon, just after 4pm. The vessel was designed by LOMOcean Design, built by Knierim Yachtbau in Kiel, Germany, and launched on 31 March 2010 for a cost of € 12.5 million. In May 2012, it became the first ever solar electric vehicle to circumnavigate the globe.
The Survey vessel Coriolis II returned to Halifax Yesterday and tied up in Bedford. The Jetty in Bedford can support vessels this size, but it is a rare birthing location for a commercial Vessel. The Russian Icebreaking Tug Vladimir Ignatyuk tied up this morning at Pier 27. If she looks famailier, its because she is a Sistership of CCGS Terry Fox, built as Arctic Kalvik in 1982 by Burrard Yarrows in Victoria. She was sold to the Murmansk Shipping Co. in 2003.
