Building construction is one area I hope to be able to add original content, given I hold a Degree in Architectural History and Theory.
I am a firm believer that there is now a additional category of building construction. Despite both being wood construction, Legacy and Lightweight construction vary significantly. As a result I believe we have a new Ultra Lightweight Category of building Construction that is making use of additional synthetic materials – such as SIP Panels
CMHC has, for the last 30+ years, produced book which describes residential construction. Its kind of the Canadian house building bible, but I suspect alot of stuff should carry over to the US.
Additionally, While the current edition is from 2014, it still covers legacy building techniques including Balloon framing.
