The Marine Atlantic ferry Highlanders arrived at the Nova Dock today for some work. She was last here in April 2012. This is likely for Routine maintinace, but stay tuned. HMCS Toronto was removed from the nova dock this morning. She was undergoing a brief pre-dpeployment work period.
Reports are that the launch of CCGS Corporal Teather C.V., the third hero Class Mid Shore Patrol Vessel, will happen the morning of Saturday, Dec 15. Updates (and a more recent photo) to Follow.
HMCS Toronto arrived in the Nova Dock this Morning. She reportedly will be there for aproximatly 10 days.
Halifax Shipyards will be cramming in the frigates – With 2 allready there undergoing thier FELEX mid-life refits (HMCS Fredericton at the Machine Shop Wharf, and HMCS Montreal in the graving Dock) HMCS Toronto, is due to arrive at Halifax Shipyard this week for about 10 days of preparation before
2 Halifax regulars are headed to Shelburne for periodic maintenance. The navy’s fireboat CFAV Firebird is headed for 10 weeks of work including hull cleaning and painting. The coast guard’s fisheries Research vessel CCGS Alfred Needler (Above) is also headed for similar work. Recently laid off workers will be recalled.
ISI Anounced today that enginering for 300 million in yard upgrades would be done by Hatch Mott MacDonald Engineering. HMM designed Saint John Shipyard’s buildings and infrastructure; they have also managed and designed marine projects at the Fairview Cove Container Terminal, Department of National Defence Halifax, and Eastern Passage Autoport.
