Captain A.G. Soppitt was a pilot and recently retired president of the St John NB Port Authority. APA’s new Pilot boat, Built at AECON Fabco in Lunenburg, is named after him. After trials, and a dedication ceremony, she will be stationed in St John NB.
After being launched this past September with much fan fare, I learned this past weekend that the bluenose will need to be hauled out of the water again before she can go anywhere. If you look closely at this shot from the Lauching, you will notice the rudder is missing.
