BP ran a <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2014\/05\/update-on-this-years-seismic-surveys.html\">seismic Survey program<\/a> over the summer, with familiar and some new vessels working out of Halifax. The <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2014\/06\/bluenose-2-has-left-dock-under-her-own.html\">Bluenose II finally sailed<\/a>, though only for a trial. Pier 9c was finished, and went into service, With O<a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2014\/10\/onego-st-petersburg-first-vessel-to-new.html\">nego St.Peterburg<\/a> being the first vessel to tie up.<\/p>\n<h2>\nNavy<\/h2>\n<h2>\n<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;HMCS Fredericton was the first FELEX vessel to Deploy, sailing on Dec 30th. She will replace HMCS Toronto. The Tug <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2014\/12\/firebird-declared-surplus-removed-from.html\">Firebird was Declared Surplus<\/a>. The French made Multiple stops in Halifax in 2014. FS Misteral and FS La Fayette took place in <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2014\/06\/french-navy-port-visit.html\">amphibious landing exercise Lion Mistral <\/a>with the Canadian Army. <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2014\/07\/fulmar.html\">Fulmar spent a week in July for the start of the Route Halifax Saint Pierre Yacht Race <\/a>,and the Survey Vessel <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2014\/06\/fs-laplace-visits-port.html\">FS Laplace<\/a>, which had completed surveying Saint Pierre. <\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;The end of July brought the NATO <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2014\/07\/snmg-2-arrives-this-morning.html\">SNMG-1 for a visit<\/a>. The Fleet consisted of&nbsp; FGS Niedersachsen, TCG Kemalreis, USS Leyte Gulf, USNS Medgar Evers and USS Anzio. The US Coast Gurad was also a Frequent visitor, with <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2014\/08\/uscgc-escanaba-vists.html\">USCGC Escanaba<\/a> visiting in August, USCGC <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2014\/06\/uscg-morrow-bay-visit.html\">Morro bay<\/a> in June, and <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2014\/03\/uscgc-tahoma-arrives.html\">USCGC Tahoma<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2014\/02\/departing-and-arriving-visitors.html\">Campbell<\/a> stopping in in March.<\/p>\n<p>Rounding out the Visits were <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2014\/11\/hdms-niels-juel-for-port-visit.html\">The Danish Destroyer&nbsp; HDMS Nils Jules<\/a> visited in December, and The Submarine <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2014\/04\/uss-new-mexico-in-for-port-visit.html\">USS New Mexico<\/a> Tied up at Shearwater in March, and the <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2014\/02\/fgs-bonn-inbound.html\">German Supplier FGS Bonn<\/a> in Febuary<\/p>\n<h2>\nIncidents&nbsp;<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogger.googleusercontent.com\/img\/b\/R29vZ2xl\/AVvXsEiXAADI9FYQfEb0JUFAv_UOZ1AEeDJnZAX3J0gLFd7Gw2HLHNtPPPldG2OdMEZOEIahnnjjsHjJ-SelWJ9pSI9SrIHtAX_o728vW0wCX9na44O9_V9SzSQHpyH04dZjYbZWvWn20z6NuEti\/s640\/blogger-image-109500810.jpg\" style=\"clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/blogger.googleusercontent.com\/img\/b\/R29vZ2xl\/AVvXsEiXAADI9FYQfEb0JUFAv_UOZ1AEeDJnZAX3J0gLFd7Gw2HLHNtPPPldG2OdMEZOEIahnnjjsHjJ-SelWJ9pSI9SrIHtAX_o728vW0wCX9na44O9_V9SzSQHpyH04dZjYbZWvWn20z6NuEti\/s640\/blogger-image-109500810.jpg\" height=\"133\" width=\"200\" \/><\/a>See our post on <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2014\/04\/top-10-disaster-posts.html\">Nautical Disasters<\/a>. 2014 was an eventful year. The tanker <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2014\/02\/algonova-towed-into-port.html\">AlgoNova caught fire<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2014\/01\/laura-i-damaged-by-ccgs-henry-larsen.html\">Laura 1 was also bumped by the Icebreaker<\/a> CCGS Henry Larsen, and put in for repairs. In February <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2014\/02\/asian-emperor-damaged.html\">Asian Emperor&nbsp; Rolled and destroyed Machinery.<\/a>&nbsp; this resulted in our most viewed post ever as Car forums linked to our post, as panicked people awaiting delivery of their new car on the<br \/>\nship tried to figure out if their vehicle was damaged. In March&nbsp; the <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2014\/03\/flying-tug-gulf-spray-hauled-out.html\"> tug gulf spray got crushed<\/a>, and the <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2014\/03\/john-1-aground-off-newfoundland.html\">bulker John 1 went aground<\/a> off Newfoundland. She was rescued by the tug Ryan Leat. With Completion of that program, the Old assembly hall was torn down. The New harbour Ferry <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2014\/05\/aboard-chritopher-stannix.html\">Christopher Stannix Was delivered<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2014\/05\/2-more-ferries-for-hrm.html\">New Ferry was ordered<\/a>, and is <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2014\/10\/follow-new-ferry-progress.html\">under construction <\/a>for delivery next year. The province tendered for a new <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2014\/08\/ns-tenders-for-new-grand-passage-ferry.html\">Boat for Grand Passage<\/a>, and the N<a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2014\/12\/canada-2014-arrives.html\">ew Digby-Saint John Ferry<\/a>, Currently known as Canada2014 arrived in Canada. <br \/>\nand a <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>2014 was an eventful year at the port of Halifax.
