\nThe 2015 cruise season at the Port of Halifax will begin on April 19, 2015 with the arrival of the Regal Princess.This will be the first call for the Regal Princess at the Port of
\nHalifax and will be the first of eight inaugural calls during the 2015
\nseason.<\/p>\n

This year, the Port of Halifax is planning to welcome 146 cruise
\nvessels carrying approximately 240-thousand passengers plus crew. This
\nyear also marks the 175th anniversary of Cunard’s first regularly
\nscheduled transatlantic voyage.<\/p>\n

On July 4, 1840, the RMS Britannia left
\nport in Liverpool and made Halifax 12 days later. To celebrate the
\nanniversary, flagship Queen Mary 2 will recreate that historic first
\ncrossing including a stop in Halifax, the hometown of Sir Samuel Cunard.
\n “It is very important for us to include Halifax as part of the
\ncelebration of the original transatlantic crossing,” said Richard
\nMeadows, President, Cunard, North America. “I think our visionary
\nfounder would be proud to see the ties between the line he created and
\nhis hometown are still holding strong after all these years.”<\/p>\n

Other highlights in 2015 include:<\/p>\n

\u2022 Eight inaugural calls<\/p>\n

\u2022 Over 25 calls where properly equipped vessels will be able to access shore power<\/p>\n

\u2022 Five visits from the Queen Mary 2 during the 2015 season. Her first call will be on July 10, 2015.<\/p>\n

\u2022 October 1, 2015 will be the only five ship day<\/p>\n

\u2022 October 16, 2015 will be the busiest passenger day with just over 10-thousand passengers expected plus crew.<\/p>\n
