Harefield also spent Considerable time at pier 9 waiting for a <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2015\/06\/harefield-update.html\">new rudder part<\/a> after <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2015\/03\/harefield-at-pier9-with-ice-damage.html\">sustaining Ice Damage<\/a>. She was Joined at Pier 9 by the Stadt Caditz who suffered <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2015\/05\/stadt-cadiz-at-pier-9b-engine-troubles.html\">engine troubles<\/a> and also needed parts. Ex RCN Research vessel<a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2015\/03\/ex-hmcs-cormorant-has-severe-list.html\"> Cormorant took a List<\/a> in Bridgewater, and Ex Sea Shepard Conservation Society vessel <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2015\/06\/farley-mowat-sinks-in-bridgewater.html\">Farley Mowat sunk<\/a>. Also worth a mention was the <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2015\/03\/ac624-normal-vs-not-normal.html\">March Crash of AC624<\/a> at Halifax Airport.<\/p>\n<h3>\nNew Ships<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2015\/03\/aussie-immigrant-svitzer-wombi-arrives.html\">Svitzer Won the contract<\/a> for tugs at Port Cartier, and imported<a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2015\/04\/svitzer-cartier-trials-in-harbour.html\"> Aussie Immigrants<\/a>. They also won a contract for and imported <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2015\/06\/home-again-new-svitzer-tugs.html\">Svitzer Nerthus And Njal.&nbsp;<\/a> The Former Greek Ferry, Canada 2014 <a href=\"ttp:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2015\/05\/canada-2014-no-more-fundy-rose-princess.html\">became the Fundy Rose<\/a> went <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2015\/06\/fundy-rose-on-trials.html\">on trials<\/a> and in the summer took her place as the replacement for <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2015\/09\/princess-of-acadia.html\">Princess of Acadia.<\/a> The New Halifax Transit <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2015\/08\/new-ferry-craig-blake-arrives.html\">Ferry Craig Blake<\/a> was delivered and went into service in the spring.<\/p>\n<p>The much delayed Bluenose<br \/>\n II &#8211; was finally <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2015\/06\/bluenose-ii-open-to-public.html\">open to the public<\/a>&nbsp; and s<a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2015\/07\/bluenose-sails.html\">ailed on her own<\/a>. And the 2 new <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2015\/01\/no-heavy-lift-heros-to-sail-today-via.html\">CCGS Hero class boats for the west<\/a> coast sailed there under there own power. <\/p>\n<h3>\nHarbour Works<\/h3>\n<p>The New<a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2015\/04\/hiberina-atlantic-cable-started.html\"> Hibernia Atlantic Express Cable was laid<\/a>. Irving demolished and began <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/search\/label\/irving%20oil%20wharf\">reconstructing their wharf<\/a> in woodside, and The Bridge Commissions&#8217; big lift got under way, with the <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2015\/07\/ocean-arctique-for-big-lift.html\">arrival of Barges<\/a> <br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2015\/08\/the-big-lift.html\">removal of the walkways<\/a>, and the <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2015\/09\/the-big-lift.html\">replacement of the first sections<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\nThe Kings Wharf <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2015\/07\/harbour-taxi.html\">Harbour Taxi<\/a> went into service. <\/p>\n<h3>\nNavy News<\/h3>\n<p>2015 saw visits from numerous foreign Naval vessels including the Submarine <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2015\/05\/uss-virginia-arrives.html\">USS Virginia<\/a> and the third LCS USS Milwaukee. US Coast guard Cutters <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2015\/06\/uscg-campbell-in-for-port-visit.html\">USCGC Campbell<\/a>&nbsp; <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2015\/08\/another-uscg-visitor.html\">USCGC Bristol Bay<\/a>&nbsp; <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2015\/09\/uscg-morrow-bay-stops-in.html\">USCGC Morrow Bay<\/a> and the First visit for a National Security Cutter <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2015\/08\/uscgc-james-to-visit-today.html\">USCGC James<\/a>. French Rocket tracking ship <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2015\/10\/fs-monge-rocket-tracking-ship.html\">FS MONGE&nbsp;<\/a> also stopped in avoiding weather. The PCTC <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2015\/09\/glovis-century-ties-up-at-pier-9.html\">Glovis Century tied up at pier 9<\/a> and unloaded Cars. This was to reduce her draft to<a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2015\/10\/update-on-glovis-century.html\"> load&nbsp; a military cargo<\/a> in Montreal. She picked up the cars on the way back. <\/p>\n<h3>\nBigger Ships<\/h3>\n<p>CMA-CGM and the Oceans 3 Alliance <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2015\/06\/cma-cgm-adds-halifax-stop.html\">add a stop in Halifax<\/a>. This Service is responsible for setting the biggest Ship record, first with the <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2015\/08\/largest-container-ship-yet.html\">CMA-CGM Vivaldi&nbsp;<\/a> , which lost to Hapag Llyods <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2015\/08\/first-stop-in-halifax-for-budapest.html\">Budapest Express<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2015\/09\/more-big-ships-for-happag-llyod.html\">Colombo Express<\/a> Finally regaining it with the Arrival of the&nbsp; <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2015\/10\/the-bigest-container-ship-yet.html\">USAC ZAMZAM<\/a> <\/p>\n<h3>\nRetirements<\/h3>\n<p>\nThe RCN Paid off <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2015\/03\/hmcs-iroquois-to-be-paid-off-may-1.html\">HMCS Iroquois on may 1,<\/a>The Nova Dock was <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2015\/08\/the-last-days-of-nova-dock.html\">sold<\/a>, Cut <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2015\/09\/novadock-trimed-in-two.html\">in two<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2015\/11\/nova-dock-is-gone.html\">towed to Tampa Florida<\/a>. and ACL began <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2015\/06\/atlantic-cartier-set-to-retire.html\">retiring<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca\/2015\/09\/atlantic-companion-to-breakers.html\">scrapping<\/a> their conro vessels as the new series come online.
