The film will have its world broadcast premiere on Sunday, December 9, 2012 at 12 Noon on CBC TV&#8217;s Land &amp; Sea.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\n&nbsp;Along with the News Release and the above trailer came a series of photographs, of ship building locations Then and now. Shipbuilding \u2013 like fishing &#8211; is an<br \/>\nobvious fact of life on the Atlantic coast, but few people today know just how<br \/>\nextensive the industry once was. There was a time not that long ago when men<br \/>\nbuilt ships in sheltered harbours, on open beaches and up narrow rivers \u2013 ships<br \/>\nthat went on to carry cargoes and passengers all over the world.<\/span><\/div>\n<div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<span lang=\"EN-CA\">From the first<br \/>\nboats built by the earliest settlers, to the golden Age of Sail in the 1800s, and<br \/>\nfrom the Grand Bank fishing schooners to the high tech naval frigates of today<br \/>\n\u2013 the thousands of vessels built in Atlantic Canada during the past 250 years<br \/>\nhave shaped the region like no other industry.<\/span><\/div>\n<div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<i><span lang=\"EN-CA\">Maritime Shipbuilding <\/span><\/i><span lang=\"EN-CA\">is a half hour documentary that explores this<br \/>\nseafaring history and the proud tradition that lives on to this day. <b><span style=\"font-weight: normal;\">The film travels to <\/span><\/b>once-thriving<br \/>\nshipbuilding centres in <b><span style=\"font-weight: normal;\">the Maritimes to rediscover the story of one of the world\u2019s most vibrant,<br \/>\nproductive, and profitable shipbuilding regions. <\/span><\/b>&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<span lang=\"EN-CA\">Although no longer<br \/>\nthe economic driving force it once was, the shipbuilding industry in Atlantic<br \/>\nCanada continues to prosper.
