She will be known as the <span>Atlantic Merlin.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>This vessel is a Wartsila designed VS 4622 CD<br \/>\nanchor handling offshore supply vessel and is the sister ship to the<br \/>\nrecently acquired Atlantic Kestrel which is currently serving off the<br \/>\ncoast of Newfoundland and Labrador.&nbsp; The Atlantic Merlin has 16300 brake<br \/>\n horsepower from its main engines and the new ship is also Ice Class 1A<br \/>\ngiving it the ability to navigate in moderate level ice conditions and<br \/>\nnorthern regions. The ship has been designed to Norwegian Maritime<br \/>\nDirectorate standards (highest in world for offshore vessels) and<br \/>\ncarries the Clean Design (CD) designation from Det Norske Veritas (DNV<br \/>\nclassification society).<\/p>\n<p>The state-of-the art ship has been<br \/>\nconstructed with a variety of features incorporating the latest offshore<br \/>\n technology available. These features include:<\/p>\n<table align=\"right\" cellpadding=\"5\" style=\"width: 15%px;\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>&nbsp;<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>\n\u2022 400 tonne anchor handling\/ towing winch<br \/>\n\u2022 Anchor handling tools (centering devices, rail cranes)<br \/>\n\u2022 Oil recovery capability<br \/>\n\u2022 DP2 dynamic positioning system<\/p>\n<p>The new vessel is designed<br \/>\nspecifically for offshore support and is capable of oil rig towing, oil<br \/>\nrig positioning and anchor handling, offshore oilfield supply, stand-by<br \/>\nrescue, and iceberg towing\/ ice management.
